COMMUNITY SERVICE

i sometimes volunteer at the  food bank in Arlington, Ga. by helping distribute food and taking inventory of food items. but i also sometimes just visit with some of the recipients of the food that we distribute. we not only donate food to them, but we also have a personal relationship with many of these benefactors. one of our closest friends made through this program is a man who has major difficulty communicating  because he is deaf. however, he also happens to be an amazing artist and we sometimes per chase his work.

FOOD BANK

this past summer, i volunteered at my school, westwood, by pressure washing, scrubbing, sandpapering, cloroxing and repainting the two most decrepit-looking things on campus along with the help of some friends: the tubes on the playground.  finally, after 7 days prepping, painting, and scrubbing, our work paid off. our school now has newly refurbished  play-ground tubes!

HELPING OUT AT SCHOOL

last year, my pre-algebra teacher's daughter was extremely ill and lost both of her legs because of this terrible illness. so, i volunteered, along with many others, in the reconstruction of her yard to prepare for her return. we mowed the grass, spread straw, cut limbs, trimmed hedges, planted flowers, and even constructed a new ramp leading up to the door for her wheelchair .
